As Supreme Commander Allied Forces Europe , Eisenhower led the June 1944 invasion that turned the tide in World War II. His decisions were instrumental in the allied victory.


Diffusion of the Suez Canal Crisis

President Eisenhower skillfully resolved a crisis in the Middle East , averting a major war. He stood up to both friends and enemies in the name of peace and justice.


Ending the Korean War

The end of the Korean War stabilized the first years of the Cold War.

Eisenhower proposed to the United Nations the creation of an International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) that would promote peaceful uses of nuclear energy, specifically as it could be used to provide electricity to non-nuclear capable countries.
