The Papers of Dwight David Eisenhower, Volume XVI - The Presidency: The Middle Way
Part IX: "Concerning my political intentions"; December 1955 to April 1956
Chapter 18: On "an almost normal schedule"

Dear Charlie: My attention has just been called to an article in the December issue of the magazine, "Fortune." The one to which I refer begins on page 138, and deals with guided missiles. In the succeeding pages there appear a number of illustrations and explanations that purport to be scientific in character. If you have not read this article, I hope you will get hold of it so that you may determine whether or not any restricted data appeared in it.1

Soon after I return to Washington, I should like to talk over with you and two or three of our best experiences [experts], this whole guided missile program.2 As ever

1 In a letter to Eisenhower dated November 29, Bernard Baruch had called Eisenhower's attention this article; see no. 1644.

2 For developments see nos. 1663 and 1750.
