Copy to Colonel Draper1

When I leave here on November 10th, I should like to leave in time to arrive at the Kansas City Airport about five o'clock, where I will pick up my son and his family.2

From there I want to land at Salina Airport and, with my family, go immediately to the hotel in Abilene.3

The following day I should like to have the arrangements for the ceremonies made so that we could be airborne about 1:30.4

On the return trip I must again stop at Kansas City to drop off my son.

Next I will stop at Chicago Airport, to drop off my brother, Earl.5

Next I will go into the selected airport near Secretary Humphrey's shooting place.6 The plane, with any passengers who do not have to stay with me in Ohio, will come directly to Washington.

The plane will return to Ohio for me on Saturday afternoon, leaving there no later than 3:00 p.m.--or thereabouts.7

1 Eisenhower frequently outlined his trips for his staff (see, for example, no. 1036). The President and Mrs. Eisenhower, Milton Eisenhower, Earl Eisenhower, and John S. D. Eisenhower and his family would attend the dedication ceremonies of the Eisenhower Museum in Abilene, Kansas, on November 11 (New York Times, Nov. 10, 11, 12, 1954; for background on the museum see no. 760). For the flight schedule and a complete list of those in the presidential party see the President's daily appointments.

2 John Eisenhower was attending the Army Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth. As it turned out, the presidential plane would arrive at Kansas City Airport at 5 p.m.

3 The Eisenhower party would stay at the Sunflower Hotel in Abilene, Kansas (New York Times, Nov. 10, 1954).

4 The Eisenhower Museum dedication ceremonies would take place at 11 a.m.; the presidential party would be airborne at 1 p.m.

5 Earl Eisenhower lived in La Grange, Illinois.

6 On November 12 Eisenhower and his brother, Milton, would enjoy duck hunting as Humphrey's guests at the Cedar Point Club on Maumee Bay, Lake Erie, twenty miles from Toledo, Ohio (see New York Times, Nov. 10-14, 1954).

7 On November 13 the President would arrive at MATS Terminal in Washington, D.C., at 3:30 p.m.
