As ever 1 Rockefeller chaired the President's Advisory Committee on Government Organization (see no. 26). A day earlier, he had spent a half-hour with Eisenhower presenting the committee's twenty separate reports and nearly 150 recommendations "looking to improvement in Government organization as a basis for increased efficiency and economy throughout the Executive Branch." Although much work remained to be done, Rockefeller wrote (see the cover letter that he, Milton Eisenhower, and Arthur S. Flemming had signed), the Bureau of the Budget could carry the burden of implementing most of the long-range suggestions.
