Dear Ann: I am grateful to you and to Mary Ann for keeping me informed of Gettysburg activities and of Art's condition.1 I know the last week or so must have been trying for you--and of course for Art--and I do want you to know that Mamie and I have been thinking of you.
Do I gather that you and Art think we should accept one of the Street Weimaraners?2 I'll be glad to, but my only question is whether or not there is any way of finding out whether the puppy he offers would be equal in breeding to the one that Bud Summerfield gave us.3
Tell Art I am counting on him to make a recovery as spectacular as his efforts in other fields. Meantime, my warm thanks to you for taking care of the farm details for us--including, most particularly, visitors!4
With affectionate regard, Sincerely
P.S. If you and Art really think we should accept Dr. Street's offer, I am enclosing a copy of a letter which you might think suitable to send to him.5
