Dear Mr. Teague: I am grateful for the informative letter that you brought to my office this morning.2 All of us Republicans are, of course, struggling for unity and team work in the Party--team work that will allow the establishment of proper national and local programs that will justify the support of a growing number of our people. It is too bad that there are people who still persist in preserving preconceived prejudices and arguments; you can be sure that I shall do all I can to see that every loyal member of the Party is treated fairly and squarely--just as I consider it my governmental duty to see that everybody in the nation, regardless of party, is entitled to the protection and services of his government.
I am sending your letter to the Chairman of the Republican National Committee, with the request that he study it thoroughly, make such investigation as he choose, and give me his recommendations and suggestions. Undoubtedly he will be in direct touch with you, sooner or later.
In this connection, will you extend my greetings and best wishes to each of the individuals who signed the report accompanying your letter.3 Sincerely
