Dear Mr. Secretary: Much as I should like to accede to any request from you, I must regretfully say "No" to your suggestion that I lend a painting to be exhibited during the Fourth Annual Art Exhibit of the Interior Department Recreation Association.1 You will understand that I have had to make a firm policy to decline all such requests, and even if this is in the official family I think I should abide by this rule. As a matter of fact, I have given all my paintings away except for the one that hangs in my office!2 Sincerely
