I wish I could run up there immediately for a look at her, but I shall have to wait until November sixth for the opportunity.1 I shall write you later, but, meantime, once again my grateful thanks for her, and for everything you did to avoid any possible embarrassment in connection with her delivery.2 With warm regard to you and Jackie, As ever 1 Odlum had written Nevins on September 28. Janessa, an Aberdeen Angus heifer, had been shipped from Scotland through Canada to Eisenhower's farm (for background see no. 1898; see also Edwards to Whitman, Sept. 28, 1956, and related correspondence). On November 10 Eisenhower would fly to Gettysburg to look over his herd and pay a "special visit to Janessa" (Eisenhower to the Odlums, Nov. 11, 1956). 2 To avoid publicity, the heifer had been purchased for Eisenhower's partner George E.
