Dear Lucy: Recently I have had no word from you about Ed's condition and so I have been assuming that he was improving.1 This morning I feel even more sure of this possibility for the reason that I had a short note from Edgar and he said nothing at all about his health.2 Nevertheless, I should very much like to know whether he feels that he is really recovered. So one of these days when you get a chance, I would be deeply grateful if you would write to me about it.3
Please tell Edgar that so far as I know there have been no recommendations received here concerning the man in whom he was interested. However, I will make sure that if his name ever comes up to me, Ed's recommendation will be brought again to my attention.
With affectionate regard, As ever
