Dear Queen Elizabeth: I am truly grateful for your kindness in sending me the recipe for the scones.1 I hope we may soon use it.
You will understand my rather woeful ignorance of culinary practices when I tell you that I did not recognize the term "caster" as a type of sugar.2 But when I called the British Embassy for help, the problem was promptly solved for me.
May I ask that you convey warm greetings from my wife and me to Prince Philip, to the Queen Mother, to Princess Margaret and to your children? Quite naturally we both send you our affectionate regard as well as our prayers that all will be well with you in the arrival of the expected addition to your charming family.3
With great respect and high esteem, Sincerely
