IKE ON THE COVERS OF TIME MAGAZINE

In the 1940s and 1950s, Dwight D. Eisenhower was a central figure in American and world current events. His death in 1969 was mourned by people everywhere. Even on the fifty-year anniversary of D-Day, Eisenhower’s supreme importance to that event could not be denied. Due to this influence and popularity, he was featured many times on numerous major magazines, including TIME, Life, Look, Collier’s, The Saturday Evening Post, and others.

Most prominently, his likeness was featured eighteen times on the cover of TIME Magazine, sixteen of them shown here, including twice as “Man of the Year.”
